DaimlerChrysler still searching for joint-venture partner
Published reports cite First Automotive Works’s (FAW) gm Zhu Yanfeng as saying the company is in talks with DaimlerChrysler AG about forming a joint heavy-duty truck making venture.
Last month, DaimlerChrysler was rumored to be in talks with another manufacturer from the People’s Republic of China, South-East Motor Corp., which is equally held by Taiwan's China Motor Co. and mainland China’s Fujian Provincial Automobile Industry Corp. South-East Motor spokesman Huang Tao said the company and DaimlerChrysler, its Chinese partner, have been talking about a joint truck-making venture as well.
A spokesperson for DaimlerChrysler confirmed the OEM is in talks with “a number of people, and one of those is FAW.” She declined to provide any other details.
