International Truck and Engine Corp. has unveiled three new International 7700 models designed for the severe-service market. The OEM touted the new trucks as the “big brother” of the company's brawny pickup truck, the CXT.

The 7700s will offer many of the same standard features available on the current 7600i models, and then some, according to the OEM. The newer features target bridge-formula mixer, super dump and block hauler applications, as well as tanks and logger trucks.

“The International 7700 models are the newest members of the International 7000 Series that combine the style and drivability of the 7000 with the chassis strength and packaging of the popular 5000i,” said Bill Sixsmith, International marketing director of Severe Service Vehicle Center.

The OEM didn't understate aesthetics, such as a liberal helping of chrome grille, either. “The chrome features provide an emotional appeal that will leave customers thunderstruck,” said Sixsmith.

Two of the new models feature a front-bumper-to-axle setting of 29.1 in. and a frame system designed for optimal payload weights. The 7700s also features a single 12.25-in. frame that the OEM says is 400 lb‥ lighter than many 10-in. frames.

The standard engine is a 305-hp. Cummins ISM with a 1,150-lb.-ft. torque rating. An Eaton Fuller 10-sp. overdrive transmission also comes standard. Engine options include a 470-hp. Caterpillar or Cummins engine.
