ArvinMeritor has announced the formation of a joint venture with Changchun, China-based First Auto Works (FAW) Sihuan Axle Brake Group. The alliance will expand ArvinMeritor’s capacity to produce commercial vehicle foundation air brakes, specifically air disc brakes and slack adjusters, ArvinMeritor said.

The venture is expected to establish a new manufacturing facility, which will eventually produce up to 90,000 brakes annually, in the Changchun area later this year.

The venture has been OK’d by the boards of both companies and is pending governmental approvals.
