Electronic document venture launched

Called eDocument Transfer, the system will combine PeopleNet’s experience with signature capture and wireless data communications with TMI’s document workflow systems.

Unlike current truck-stop document scanning services which allow drivers to convert and electronically transmit paper shipping documents into electronic images, the new system will use data transmitted wirelessly by drivers to populate document templates created from actual shipper paperwork. The result will be electronically created original documents, the partners say.

Release of the new systems is scheduled for the second quarter of 2003.
