Cohesive Friction Severe Duty (CFSD) brake linings, according to Carlisle Motion Control Industries, feature the benefits of cohesive friction in a lining designed for severe-duty, high-temperature applications. Carlisle says Cohesive Friction is soft and conforms to the drum, eliminating hot spotting and thermal cracking, while reducing brake noise and uneven tire wear.

Complete heel and toe contact between the lining and the drum has allowed Carlisle to add more useable material to each lining. CFSD is said to double the life of brake linings through more even distribution of heat across the friction material and double the life of brake drums by eliminating abrasive particles. It meets all FMVSS #121 guidelines.
