• Diesel drops to pre-war prices

    The average price for a gallon of diesel fuel dropped 2.1 cents last week, according to the U.S. Dept. of Energy. According to the department's Energy Information Administration, the $1.508 average is the lowest since February 3, when the price began spiking because of fear of a war in Iraq. The average dipped under $1.50 in the Midwest ($1.488) and Gulf Coast ($1.419) regions, but three regions –

    According to the department's Energy Information Administration, the $1.508 average is the lowest since February 3, when the price began spiking because of fear of a war in Iraq.

    The average dipped under $1.50 in the Midwest ($1.488) and Gulf Coast ($1.419) regions, but three regions – New England, Central Atlantic and California – all have averages above $1.60.
