Bendix Unveils New ABS, ADB Products

    LOUISVILLE, KY Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems is rolling out two brake system platforms during the fourth quarter of the year: A next-generation antilock braking system (ABS) with beefed up electronic control options; and an air-disc brake (ADB) package aimed at helping fleets meet upcoming NHTSA rules. The next-generation ABS is a scalable system available in standard, premium and advanced configurations.

    LOUISVILLE, KY Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems is rolling out two brake system platforms during the fourth quarter of the year: A next-generation antilock braking system (ABS) with beefed up electronic control options; and an air-disc brake (ADB) package aimed at helping fleets meet upcoming NHTSA rules.

    The next-generation ABS is a scalable system available in standard, premium and advanced configurations.

    According to Bendix, “ABS-6 Advanced with ESP (Electronic Stability Program) is the high-performing stability system that responds to both low- and high-friction surface stability scenarios to help reduce the risk of jackknifes and rollovers in a full range of driving conditions.”

    The new air-disc brake, the ADB 22x, is an enhanced version of Bendix’s ADB 225 disc brake. It reduces stopping distances by 30%, with less brake fade and lower lifetime maintenance costs than drum brakes, according to Bendix. The company says the brake will help fleets comply with stricter NHTSA stopping distance requirements, which will be mandated for commercial vehicles in 2007.
