Light-truck sales boost American Honda's numbers
American Honda Motor Co. sales increased 3.3% during 2002 to an all-time record of 1,247,834 units while setting eight new records including light truck sales for Honda and Acura divisions and the sale of the world's first fuel-cell car certified for commercial use.

Record December sales of 100,736, up 10.4% compared to 2001, were also achieved, according to figures released by American Honda.

American Honda said it sold 409,231 light trucks in 2002, a 33% increase over 2001. It said its Honda division total light truck sales of 356,276 was an all-time record, topping the 266,857 sold in 2000.
