Goodyear believes that tires are not merely a single component on a truck but "part of a system that is integral to a truck's overall performance." With that philosophy in mind, Goodyear has made several new additions and enhancements to its truck tire line.

At the Mid-America Trucking Show, the company unveiled the G372 LHD drive tire to complete its tractor-system tire line. Both the G372 and its companion, the G397 LHS steer tire, come with what Goodyear calls its Enhanced Casing Design, or ECD - a polyamide belt in the tire's casing that stops moisture before it reaches the belts. This helps increase the life and retreadability of the tire, said Goodyear.

Goodyear's ECD radials also feature a cooler running tread and wire-coat compounds to better resist heat buildup. Coupled with a new apex designto reduce tearing and cracking, along with a tougher base compound, Goodyear said its ECD tires can have a longer life cycle.

In other news, the company introduced its newly renamed Next-Tred retread tire division, geared to serving medium-truck tire users. With 167 retreading centers in the U.S. and Canada, Goodyear said the Next-Tred division will collaborate with the company's Truckwise program, which offers cradle-to-grave tire management for fleets through a network of 200 Goodyear dealers.
