    LTL commercial freight carrier Con-Way Central Express (CCX) said today that it will open a new freight hub in Fremont, IN this fall to replace its operation in Coldwater, MI.

    Richard V. Palazzo, president & CEO of CCX, said the 13.5-mile move to the larger facility will better accommodate anticipated business growth and offer easy access to Interstetes 69, 80 and 90.

    The new hub will enable CCX to provide next-day service to markets in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Knoxville, TN. Second-day service will be provided to the Northeast, most of the South, the upper Midwest and parts of Colorado and Wyoming.

    Located on 57 acres, the structure will have 144 doors, 12,000 sq ft of office space and 63,000 sq ft of dock area. The facility will handle in excess of three-million lbs. of freight daily.
