The American Trucking Assns. (ATA) has released a 186-pg. guidebook designed to help readers evaluate and manage risk and trucking security.

The ATA Certified Cargo Security Professional Resource Guidebook, developed by ATA's Security Council, covers topics such as investigations in the logistics environment, emergency disaster management and federal security regulations for hazardous materials transportation. The book can be purchased at www.ATABusinessSolutions.com or by calling 1-866-821-3468.

The book also can be used as a study resource for the CCSP Certification examination, a specialty credential administered through ATA and recognized by the North American Transportation Management Institute.

“Eighty percent of all communities in the U.S. rely solely on trucks for the products and goods they receive, including food, books, clothing, electronics, automobiles and medical supplies,” says ATA president & CEO Bill Graves. “Securing the transportation infrastructure and supply chain against potential acts of cargo theft, natural disaster, organized crime and even terrorism is a critical piece of the homeland security effort. ATA established the CCSP Certification and accompanying CCSP Resource Guidebook to address this vital need by expanding and unifying our industry's approach to security.”
