Former National Transportation Safety Board chairman James E. Hall filed suit yesterday against international law firm, Dillon, Hall & Lungershausen claiming it improperly terminated his services representing DaimlerChrysler AG in Washington, DC.

In legal papers, Hall alleges that he and Dillon, et.al. had signed a five-year contract for him to help represent one of the firm's majors clients, DaimlerChrysler AG. His minimum yearly salary was $350,000, not including bonuses and other compensation.

The law firm specializes in transportation safety, crisis communication and related litigation.

In November, 2001, however, Hall said that two principals of the company took over its assets and began representing DaimlerChrysler themselves. Around the same time, the suit said, the law firm notified Hall that it had lost DaimlerChrysler as a client and terminated his services.

In the suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, Hall asked for $1.4 million to cover his expected minimum salary for the other four years of his contract.
