CoPilot Truck from ALK Technologies provides truck drivers with both spoken and map-based driving directions on a laptop computer. The new package, which includes a GPS receiver and antenna, uses the company's PC*MILER routing and mileage software to provide street-level coverage for the entire continental U.S. Features for the package, which was introduced at the American Trucking Assns. conference in late October, include two-way voice technology for hands-free operation, pretrip route optimization, and automatic recalculation of routes if a vehicle deviates from its planned routes.
