NASHVILLE, TN. A birthday cake at the National Private Truck Council Annual Education Management Conference this week marked the third anniversary of the launch of the VeriWise Asset Intelligence system from GE Asset Intelligence and Trailer Fleet Services, two business units of Equipment Services.

Since its launch, the company has steadily added functionality and features to the system, which will have an installed base of some 75,000 units by year end, according to GE.

The occasion also served as an opportunity for sharing other VeriWise news, including a progress report on the installation of 46,000 VeriWise units for the entire Wal-Mart trailer fleet, which is moving along at 514 units per day, thanks to help from Velociti, Inc., hired to work alongside GE and Wal-Mart mechanics to meet the tight installation deadlines. To date 7,200 units have been installed and the project is expected to be finished later this year.

GE’s Trailer Fleet Services business also announced that it will waive damage repair bills under $25 for individual rental trailers that are returned requiring minor repairs, the charges for which are the sole item on a bill. The change is being made at the recommendation of the company’s Client Advisory Board of trucking executives.

Other news included the fact that GE’s 54-foot Mobile Solutions Center is back on the road after the installation of a new interior design and new hands-on technology exhibits and the fact that GE Trailer Fleet Services has pledged to have 10,000 of its rental trailers carry the “Good Stuff, Trucks Bring It” decals to support the American Trucking Associations’ industry image campaign.

In a separate announcement, the Asset Intelligence division of GE Equipment Services reported that Innovative Computing Corporation, a developer and integrator of enterprise management software for the transportation industry, and GE have agreed to integrate GE’s VeriWise with the dispatch module of Innovative Enterprise Software.
