Enfeld, England-based OEM Group Ltd. has introduced its SecuReSeal and SecuReSeal.Data products to North America.

Introduced in Great Britain in 1997, SecuReSeal is described as the world's first mechanical reusable seal incorporating a random-number generator. The newer SecuReSeal.Data couples what OEM Group calls the fail-safe security of SecuReSeal's random-number mechanical system with radio-transmitted vehicle data.

Here's how it works: Once a trailer is loaded and the SecuReSeal is locked, a new set of numbers is generated. These numbers are recorded on a delivery manifest. Upon delivery, if the numbers do not match those on the manifest, it is evident the trailer door was opened.

SecuReSeal.Data adds an interface to most vehicle management and tracking systems via a low-power telemetry link. Using time, data and location stamping, an exact record of when and where a trailer door was opened will be stored when the numbers change. And when integrated with real-time communication devices, fleets or the authorities can be alerted to unauthorized door movement.
