Volvo Global Trucks today unveiled details of its previously announced reorganization of Mack Trucks Inc. and Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA), its two North American operating units.
Tryggve Sthen, president & CEO of Volvo Global Trucks, said the reorganization will strengthen both Mack and Volvo as distinct, premium truck brands, offering premium products and customer support and providing a very competitive structure for future profitable growth in the market.
Mack and VTNA will maintain separate headquarters, each with its own management. However, several functions will be brought under the common leadership of VTNA president & CEO Michel Gigou.
Mack’s headquarters will remail in Allentown, PA, while VTNA will stay in Greensboro, NC.
Terrence C. Grube has been named vp – legal. Grube has been with Mack since 1973, and has served since 1998 as Mack executive vp, general counsel and secretary.
Göran R. Gustafsson has been named vp – customer engineering. Gustafsson has been with Volvo since 1970, and has served since March as Mack vp – customer engineering.
Sam Johnston has been named vp – dealer development. Johnston has served since 1997 as director – dealer development at VTNA.
Rikard Jonsson has been named senior vp of parts sales and marketing. Jonsson has served since 1997 as general manager of Volvo Parts South America in Brazil.
Marc J. Kalbermatten has been named vp – IS/IT. Kalbermatten has been with Mack since 1981, and has served since 1999 as vp – IT.
Mark T. McLaughlin has been named senior vp – human resources. McLaughlin has been with Mack since 1997, and served most recently as senior vp – human resources and administration.
John Mies has been named vp – communications. Mies has been with Mack since 1992, and served most recently as vp – communications.
Harold W. Wiegel has been named vp – customer satisfaction. Wiegel joined Mack in 1990, and was named vp – customer support for VTNA in September.
Each of the eight vps will be based out of Greensboro and report directly to Gigou.
As part of the September 28 reorganization announcement, Volvo Global Trucks said that it will close the Mack Winnsboro, SC, plant within the next 15 months. The plant, opened in the mid 1980s, produces Mack’s Vision and CH on-highway vehicles.
