TravelCenters of America (TA) is planning to install idle-reduction technology in at least 50 of its full-service travel facilities over the next 15 months.

Through a partnership with IdleAire Technologies, TA has already put that company’s Advanced Travel Center Electrification (ATE) shore power system in a number of centers, including sites in Maryland, New Jersey and Texas.

The ATE system makes it possible for drivers to stay in their cabs and operate heat or a/c, as well as phones, computers, entertainment devices, etc. without running the truck engine.
