Oak Forest, IL-based Chicago School Transit is now using a soy-based biodiesel fuel to cut hazardous exhaust emissions by 15% to 20% – part of the Illinois Clean School Bus Program developed and administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
Chicago Area Transit is a subsidiary of Cook-Illinois Corp., which operates 1,400 school buses in 15 Chicago districts, is using a soy-based biodiesel fuel distributed by BioEnergy Supply, based in Frankfort, IL, in conjunction with Hartney Fuel Oil Co.
