FedEx Corp. is creating a new service, FedEx Expedited Freight Services, to handle time-sensitive, heavy-weight shipment needs for customers via both air and ground.

“Our customers’ business needs change daily, and in some instances, hourly,” said Douglas Duncan, president & CEO of FedEx’s LTL arm, FedEx Freight. “Customers are seeking reliable transportation solutions that offer flexibility as well as specialized options to meet their specific transportation needs.”

Easier access will allow customers to choose from a broad range of expedited services – from LTL to air cargo transport – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through one point of contact, Duncan said.

He noted that FedEx Expedited Freight Services will use proprietary information technology to quickly identify the optimal solution for each customer’s needs and confirm shipping services upon request.
