Express parcel delivery carrier Airborne Express has contracted with DHL Aviation of Brussels, Belgium and Global Delivery Systems of Jamaica, NY, to provide line-haul carriage for the movement of consolidated international express shipments to and from Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Seattle-based Airborne Express said it uses a number of line-haul carriers in its network, and will continue pickup, customs clearance and delivery through its own extensive network of wholly owned offices, joint venture and service partners.

Bruce Grout, senior vp of international services at Airborne Express, said the intent of the agreement is to enhance Airborne's existing international service by reaching a substantial number of those markets on a more direct basis.
