The American Trucking Assns. (ATA) recently named James W. McFarlin, director of safety for ABF Freight Systems Inc., ATA Safety Director of the Year. The award is presented annually to the motor carrier safety executive whose professional qualifications, safety programs and achievements are considered outstanding.
ATA said McFarlin is credited with operating a strong nationwide safety program, providing top of the line safety training for all ABF Freight Systems employees, and adhering to rigorous driver and equipment safety standards throughout the company.
Before joining ABF Freight Systems more than fifteen years ago, McFarlin, a graduate of the FBI National Academy, worked twenty years in law enforcement.
