Cummins Westport Inc. announced today that it has received an order for 33 low-emissions natural gas truck engines for a California-based unit of Republic Services Inc. This marks Cummins Westport's second major order in recent months for C Gas Plus engines in a heavy truck application.

The 33 engines will be supplied in Volvo chassis for 27-cubic yard Xpeditor refuse and recycling trucks. Volvo recently sold the Xpeditor low cab forward truck business to Autocar LLC, a subsidiary of Grand Vehicle Works Holdings LLC.

"With the C Gas Plus, Cummins Westport has the most up-to-date alternative fuel engine technology for refuse trucks, " said Guff Muench, president & CEO of Cummins Westport. "We intend to be a long-term, dominant player in this business and working with leading truck manufacturers such as Volvo and Autocar is an important part of our strategy."

Delivery of the trucks is scheduled for February 2002.
