According to a report on thewebsite of the Detroit Free Press, the FBI said today it has arrested a “close associate” of Osama bin Laden, Nabil al Marabh, who holds a Michigan license to drive tractor-trailers carrying hazardous materials. He was taken into custody in Justice, IL.

The report noted that officials with the FBI, U.S Marshals Service and the INS all declined comment on both his arrest and the significance of his hazmat–endorsed CDL. Al Marabh, 34, received the license, eerily enough, exactly one year before the terrorist assaults on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

According to the report, state officials said he attained the CDL after showing proof he had passed a road test in a heavy rig given by a driving examiner for the Detroit Public Schools. It was also reported that Al Marabh holds a Massachusetts cabbie license and was convicted in Boston last December for assaulting a fellow cab driver with a knife.
