The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has announced plans to double its seamless tread production capability at the company’s Social Circle, GA retread facility. Through this investment, Goodyear will acquire six additional presses to produce treads for the UniCircle retread system.
“The investment will allow us to keep pace with the growth of our UniCircle process,” said Armond Boyes, general manager for Goodyear’s Next-Tred operations.
The expansion in Social Circle will add approximately 40 new jobs at the plant. In announcing the investment and expansion, Goodyear also said that the State of Georgia is partnering to provide training support for its UniCircle retread system to new and current employees through an alliance between Goodyear, the state’s Quick Start program and Athens Technical College.
