Mack Trucks has introduced its UniMax heavy-duty front axle, which is available in 18,000-lb and 20,000-lb capacities and comes with unitized wheel hubs to reduce axle maintenance costs.

The wheel hubs are permanently sealed with synthetic grease to provide longer-term protection and lubrication to protect wheel seals and bearings from water, dirt and other contaminants.

The UniMax is also lighter than Mack's previous axle products, which the company said would help fleets increase payload without sacrificing axle durability. An additional design improvement is a rigid control feature that has a tapered kingpin design to improve stability, yet eliminates the need for adjustments.
