Penske Logistcs, has opened a 208,000-sq-ft distribution center in Los Indios, TX to consolidate operations and expand capabilities for logistics services provided to Delphi Delco Electronics Systems, the company said today.

The Los Indios center is the largest facility of its kind dedicated to servicing Delphi Delco’s logistics needs. Penske Logistics said it also consolidates activities that were previously managed from six separate locations.

“By consolidating all activities into one location in close proximity to the new free trade bridge near Harlingen,” said Robert Herrgard, South Texas area manager for Penske Logistics, “We are able to provide Delphi Delco with numerous benefits including reduced time associated with border crossings, increased productivity and lower costs.”

The new center is staffed by more than 200 associates, and will provide a variety of transportation management services to the electronic manufacturer, including dedicated contract carriage and distribution center management to Delphi Delco’s manufacturing operations in Mexico. Penske Logistics will manage all southbound and northbound border crossings on behalf of Delphi Delco, with an anticipated 30,000 truck crossings annually.

Penske Logistcs, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Penske Truck Leasing, has been providing logistics services to Delphi Delco since 1987.
