    Velant taps Martin to head up sales

    Freight-matching provider Velant Inc. has named John Martin senior vp of sales. He will be responsible for the company's sales force and for growing the client base for Velant's Transportation Management Center (TMC) online system.     Before joining Atlanta-based Velant, Martin served as senior vp of sales, marketing & business development for National Transportation Exchange (NTE), another Internet-based freight-matching firm. He also worked in the supply chain services unit of freight forwarder BAX Global.
