Red Technologies of Guatemala will distribute GlobalWave satellite data communications terminals under a new three-year agreement with Vistar Datacom. The GlobalWave system provides wireless tracking and two-way communications for transportation and fixed-asset monitoring.

The deal calls for Red Technologies to distribute 1,000 terminals a year in Central and South America, with most going to the transportation market. Red Technologies is a subsidiary of Consumer Electronic AG, a Germany-based distributor of electronic components, software and networking products.

Vistar Datacom said it has also received a $1.7-million order for its satellite data terminals from StarTrack, the South African operator of its GlobalWave system. The new terminals will be used by regional truck fleets for cross-border tracking, vehicle management and cargo protection.
