Motor Cargo reduces transit times

Salt Lake City-based Motor Cargo Industries, a regional truckload carrier owned by Richmond, VA-based LTL operator Overnite Transportation, has cut transit times for more than 4,000 lanes, drawing Atlantic ports and manufacturing centers from Boston to Atlanta to within four days of select West Coast locations.

“We can now offer West Coast customers …true seamless transit with shipments moving through the combined Motor Cargo/Overnite system under one manifest, one invoice and one-call capability for tracing and tracking from pickup to delivery,” said Motor Cargo president Peter Morrow.

For example, he said, goods shipped from select Southern California markets can be delivered into the Atlanta metropolitan area within four days, and from Reno, NV, to Boston in four days and from Boise, Idaho to metro New York in four days. Shipment times from Phoenix to Kansas City have been reduced to three days, he added.
