ATRI launches surveys on onboard safety technology adoption among carriers and drivers
Key takeaways
- ATRI is surveying carriers and drivers on onboard safety tech adoption and real-world use.
- The study will compare 2026 responses with 2023 TechCelerate findings to track industry shifts.
- Results will help improve safety messaging, training, and technology implementation across fleets.
The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) recently released follow-up surveys targeting motor carriers and truck drivers to assess adoption levels and perspectives on onboard safety technologies. The company is conducting the research through its TechCelerate program; its research team includes ATRI, ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC), and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) Foundation.
The surveys are designed to compare and contrast updated findings with results from ATRI’s original 2023 TechCelerate survey. They will also help the research team refine messaging and address implementation challenges to improve truck safety and operational efficiency.
The motor carrier survey examines technology preferences, acceptance among drivers, and issues related to repair, maintenance, and safety benefits. It takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete and is available now.
The truck driver survey focuses on driver familiarity and real-world experience with onboard safety technologies, including perceived safety benefits. It also takes approximately 10–15 minutes and is available now.
