DHL announces North America CEO
DHL Supply Chain (No. 59 on the FleetOwner 500: For-Hire) announced that Mark Kunar, who served as the company’s chief strategy officer and chief financial officer, is now the North America CEO. He replaces Patrick Kelleher, who became CEO of GXO.
As North America CEO, Kunar is responsible for managing the business across the United States and Canada, leading a workforce of 52,000 associates. He said that his immediate focus will be to manage the integration of the newly acquired businesses into the DHL Supply Chain portfolio and the continued strengthening of the business’ capabilities and role as the leading contract logistics provider in North America. Kunar reports to Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL.
Mark Kunar joined DHL Supply Chain in 1996 as a financial analyst. He has since held various operational, finance, commercial, and functional management positions. He stepped into his last role in 2024 and has been responsible for the development and implementation of the North America strategy to facilitate growth of products and sectors in the region.

Merchants Fleet hires Paul Garbis as VP of field operations
Merchants Fleet recently hired Paul Garbis to serve as VP of field operations. In this position, Garbis will be responsible for driving performance, innovation, and continuous improvement across the company’s nationwide field operations.
Garbis brings over 20 years of operational leadership experience from his tenure at Hertz, where he served in a range of progressively senior roles, including VP of operations for the Central Region and Canada, zone general manager, territory manager, and area manager.

Love’s names Tim Langley Hawthorne as new CTO
Love’s Travel Stops named Tim Langley-Hawthorne as the company’s new chief technology officer. As CTO, Langley-Hawthorne is responsible for aligning technology with overall company strategy, driving product development, and fostering technical innovation including the responsible development of artificial intelligence. He reports directly to Love’s president, Shane Wharton.

Langley-Hawthorne brings more than 30 years of global technology experience across multiple industries, countries, and companies. Most recently he served as Hertz’ EVP and chief information officer, where he deployed technology-enabled products at-scale across thousands of global airport and off-airport locations, and for managing a fleet of more than half a million vehicles. Prior, he was with Hitachi Vantara where he led all technology aspects for several merger and acquisition activities including due diligence and integration planning. He also held executive technology roles with Western Union and Information Services Group (ISG).
