Here is a look at what is happening in the world of transportation this morning:

• The American Trucking Association is urging the government to proceed with a law that requires heavy trucks to have electronic speed-limiting devices, according to Maine News online. According to the report, the association claims that the devices will help increase safety on the roads.

The California Trucking Association will be in Sacramento this morning to push for more funding to fix the state’s roads and highways, The Sacramento Bee reported.

• Wisconsin has declared a state of emergency after a lethal strain of bird flu was found in millions of hens at an egg-laying facility in Iowa, according to AG Week. In an attempt to help contain the disease, the state ordered that trucks exiting the infected premises be disinfected, the report stated.

• A Missouri man recognized as the guy who created the first monster truck is celebrating 40 years of driving “Bigfoot,” according to a story in the Wall Street Journal.

Transportation company executives are urging federal lawmakers to support infrastructure improvements or “risk real damages to the economy and competitiveness down the road,” according to Transport Topics.
