Dana Corporation’s Commercial Vehicle Systems group announced its SmartWave TPMS tire pressure monitoring system is now available for retrofit installation on a variety of commercial truck models through OE dealerships.
SmartWave TPMS is a real-time electronic system that measures the air pressure and temperature for each tire on a vehicle. The system transmits data wirelessly to a receiver mounted on the vehicle, and displays the information in the cab. The system is suitable for all wheel and tire types and can be installed at any point in the vehicle’s life, Dana said.
“SmartWave TPMS is simple to install and will reduce two top operating expenses for fleets – fuel and tires,” said Jon Intagliata, product manager for Dana. “Easily accessible tire pressure data will provide fleets the opportunity to maximize both fuel economy and tire life by maintaining proper tire pressure. The SmartWave TPMS system can also communicate to off-board communications systems utilizing the J1939 data link, allowing fleets to capture important real-time pressure and temperature data to provide proactive maintenance and help eliminate costly road-side tire failures.”
SmartWave TPMS was developed in collaboration with SmarTire Systems Inc.
Initial configurations available include:
- 4 X 2 with standard dual tires
- 6 X 4 with wide-base tires
- 6 X 4 with standard dual tires
