Indianapolis-based Ray’s Trash Service will install the Eagle Eye obstacle detection system on 300 of its waste disposal vehicles, Eagle Eye maker Transportation Safety Technologies (TST) has announced.

Eagle Eye offers drivers a visual display of side and rear blind spots through a dash-mounted display that accompanies audible alerts that sound when a vehicle is eight to ten feet from an object. The system, designed for harsh use, includes seven weather-resistant sensors and a driver alert module inside the cab, noted TST.

“Keeping our neighborhoods and pedestrians safe is a top priority of our company,” said Don Matthews, president of Ray’s Trash Services. “With Eagle Eye, our drivers can easily see if any person or object is located near our vehicles. This ‘extra set of eyes’ will play a huge role in avoiding damage, injury and accident costs. Every trash vehicle needs this technology.”
