SAE International has announced the dates for two seminars it is holding this summer in Troy MI. The first, titled Commercial Vehicle Braking Systems, is scheduled for August 1-3, the second, Wet Brake & Clutch Technology, will be held August 6-7.
The Commercial Vehicle Braking Systems seminar is aimed at those involved in the design, development and testing of heavy vehicle brakes. It will focus on understanding medium-duty hydraulic and heavy-duty air brake systems and how their performance can be predicted, maintained and optimized. The instructor, Leonard C. Buckman, will explain the function and application of major brake system components. Attendees will also discover how brakes, tires and roadways interact as a system.
Michael A. Anleitner will be instructing the second seminar, Wet Brake & Clutch Technology, which will provide attendees with state-of-the-art information, including design of wet clutches and brakes for vehicular applications. Wet clutches and brakes, SAE noted, offer longer life and better energy management without the use of asbestos. The seminar will cover the basics of oil shear between stators and rotors as a foundation for understanding sound design principles.
Registration fees for the Commercial Vehicle Braking Systems seminar are $1,265 for SAE members, $1,395 for nonmembers. The course is also available as an e-Seminar. The Wet Brake & Clutch Technology seminar costs $995 for SAE members, $1,115 for nonmembers.
