The Natso Foundation announced today it has awarded Bill Moon Scholarships to eight students in the amount of $2,500 each to pursue higher educational opportunities

The Natso Foundation announced today it has awarded Bill Moon Scholarships to eight students in the amount of $2,500 each to pursue higher educational opportunities. The annual scholarships are presented to deserving students with ties to the truckstop industry whose academic qualifications and achievements are considered outstanding.

The foundation noted that this year’s recipients highlight the diversity of truckstop and travel plaza employees and their families. Winners are:

  • Patricia Bieber, Grand Island, NB, Central Community College - Grand Island Campus;
  • Cody Borgstrom, Newnan, GA, University of Notre Dame;
  • Kaitlin Duggan, Hershey, NB, University of Nebraska – Kearney;
  • Amanda Miller, Olathe, KS, Kansas State University;
  • Sterling Robertson, Canyonville, OR, University of Oregon;
  • Neal Warner, Trenton, MI, Berklee College of Music;
  • Jenna Lemrick, Vancouver, WA, Concorde;
  • Jay Kirschbaum, Fort Worth, TX, University of North Texas

The Bill Moon Scholarship was established in 1989 with a $5,000 contribution from the Mason-Dixon Truck Stop Operators Association. Today, it includes contributions from the Northeast Truckstop Operators Association and the Moon family.

Natso Foundation began awarding scholarships to industry employees and their dependants in 1993. The scholarship is named in honor of Bill Moon, founder of Iowa 80 Truckstop, Walcott, IA. More than $250,000 in scholarships has been awarded since 1993.
