Herb Mitchell, a veteran truck driver with Con-way Truckload, recently reached the elite career milestone of three million miles of safe driving.

Mitchell is the ninth driver in the 57-year history of the company to achieve that record – the equivalent of 12 trips from the Earth to the moon, noted Herb Schmidt, president of Joplin, MO-based Con-way Truckload. “We are tremendously proud to have Herb as a Con-way Truckload driver,” he observed.

A professional truck driver since 1962, Mitchell joined Con-way Truckload (known as Contract Freighters Inc. until San Mateo, CA-based Con-way acquired it in 2007) in 1981. Mitchell now typically drives local and trailer-recovery runs.
