Con-way Freight has announced a general rate increase of 6.9% for non-contractual business effective Aug. 1, 2011

Con-way Freight has announced a general rate increase of 6.9% for non-contractual business effective Aug. 1, 2011.

The increase will be implemented on the company’s CNW 599 tariff and will apply to general less-than-truckload rates, minimum charges and accessorial or supplemental fees for special services for LTL shipments moving within the United States and Canada, as well as cross-border shipments moving between the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada, the company said.

The actual increase will vary based on individual shippers and shipments based on characteristics such as geography, lane, product classification, and weight, the company said.
