SAE International's science, technology, engineering and math program “A World in Motion” (AWIM) celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
AWIM (www.awim.org) offers interdisciplinary, project-based learning to K-12 students. It consists of 10 interactive curricula called “challenges” that let students take part in an “engineering design experience,” a problem-solving process taught at many engineering schools and used by engineering design teams.
SAE said challenges include designing and constructing fuel cells, electronics and motorized cars.
Since the program's inception, more than four million students have participated.
