The Truckload Carriers Association and CarriersEdge have launched the first annual Best Fleets to Drive For survey, identifying the top for-hire trucking industry employers in North America.

Fleets with ten trucks or more can be nominated by at least one of their company drivers or contracted owner-operators. Nominees will be judged on driver compensation, pension and benefits, professional development, driver and community support and safety record, among other factors, CarriersEdge said.

"Too many people think the trucking industry is nothing but dead-end jobs and unethical employers," said Mark Murrell, president of CarriersEdge. "This survey offers a platform for setting the record straight - showcasing the great employers out there and publicizing their best practices."

Nominees will be accepted until November 30, 2008. Winners will be announced at the TCA Annual Convention in March 2009.
