Con-way Freight and TNT have expanded their intercontinental freight service with a new export service designed to cut transit times on heavier shipments between the U.S. and Europe

Con-way Freight and TNT have expanded their intercontinental freight service with a new export service designed to cut transit times on heavier shipments between the U.S. and Europe. The service, which builds on the import service the two companies launched in April of last year, will mean a three- to six-day travel time for most shipments from the time they leave JFK Airport in New York City to their final European destination.

“With the expansion of our joint offering, we now provide customers in both the USA and Europe with fast, reliable intercontinental shipping. This is made possible thanks to the unique combination of TNT and Con-way Freight’s combined networks,” said Matt McDonough, president of North America, TNT. “U.S. customers looking for a reliable solution to handle their export business to Europe now have a faster and more cost-effective option for their freight shipments.”

Con-way will handle shipments leaving the U.S. by managing their delivery to JFK. It will handle consolidation and loading to direct air cargo service, which will deliver the shipments to Liege Airport in Belgium. At that point, TNT, which operates 414 facilities across 39 European countries, will handle customs clearance and deconsolidation. Shipments will then enter TNT’s integrated air and road network for delivery to their final destination.
