The Pulaski County Arkansas Sheriff’s Dept. is looking for a suspect in the theft of a bobtail semi stolen in the early morning hours Monday who led police on a chase, stopped and backed the rig into one patrol car, then rammed the truck into another patrol car before escaping on foot.

Police got a report of a stolen tractor and deputies were able to locate it in a commuter lot near Interstate 540.

“When they attempted to make contact with the driver, he took off and led them on a brief pursuit,” Lieutenant Carl Minden told KUAR News. “He then stopped, basically in the middle of the road, and he actually backed up into one of the patrol cars, riding up almost on to the hood and disabled that vehicle, and then proceeded to ram another sheriff’s car.”

Minden said one deputy fired his weapon at the suspect, but he was able to escape. The abandoned truck was found a short distance down the road.

“It’s not something somebody steals every day. We get stolen vehicles all the time but 18-wheelers (are) not something you see stolen quite often. You got to kind of know how to drive them, to be honest, before you’d even steal it and like I said it’s not every day somebody tries to murder two police officers,” Minden said.
