FedEx Freight Canada is moving into a new headquarters building in Toronto, complete with its own 48 dock-door terminal.

The newly formed subsidiary of FedEx Freight, formerly Watkins Canada Express, officially began operations in February. It provides seamless intra-Canada and trans-border LTL service, said Grant Crawford, vp & gm for FedEx Freight Canada.

“This new facility establishes a strong base from which we can quickly expand our operations across Canada,” he said “In addition to Toronto, we offer P&D service through a growing network of facilities that includes Vancouver, Winnipeg, London, Calgary and Montreal.”

All told, FedEx Freight Canada provides all-points coverage to more than 7,000 cities in 10 of the country’s provinces, as well as trans-border service for shipments to and from the U.S. and other locations, said Crawford. He added that, with an aggressive growth plan underway, the carrier also plans to add service centers in Ottawa, Cambridge, Edmonton, Halifax, and Quebec City, while expanding facilities in Winnipeg and Calgary during the next several months.

Crawford noted key services that FedEx freight Canada provides that should help make it attractive to new customers:

  • Trans-border crossing using Canada’s Pre-Arrival Review System (PARS) and Pre-Arrival Processing System (PAPS), which enable Canada and U.S. Customs to review shipments en route to the border gateways, thus reducing delays
  • Enhanced shipment visibility from pickup to delivery using a single identification number
  • Conveniently determined pricing between most U.S. ZIP codes and Canadian postal codes, married to an online rate calculator to quickly and easily determine specific rates

A dedicated bilingual Canada Solutions Team to assist customers with their trans-border shipping requirements.
