The national average price for a gallon of diesel fell 3.3 cents to $2.43 for the week ending January 21, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Although prices fell in all regions, they held the steadiest in the Lower Atlantic region, slipping only 0.7 cents to $2.361. In spite of the relatively small decline, the Lower Atlantic region tied with the Gulf Coast for being the cheapest regions in which to fill up.
The steepest decline was seen in the West Coast region, where prices fell 5.4 cents to $2.695. California once again was the most expensive region for diesel at $2.742 after a 3.1-cent drop.
