CINCINNATI. Troy Stevenson, director of logistics for GreenLine Foods, Inc., was honored yesterday at the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) Annual Education Management Conference and Exhibition for graduating at the top of the class of individuals who earned their Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) credentials in 2011.

“The CTP seemed to encompass all my seventeen years in trucking,” he told Fleet Owner. “It really fit well for me.”

Fleet Owner, which sponsors the annual award for the Top Graduate, presented a crystal eagle to Stevenson in recognition of his achievement.

Stevenson joined GreenLine about a year ago. Prior to that, he served as transportation carrier relations leader, North America for Owens Corning. He was also logistics manager, building products North America, at Pilkington.

Forty-nine people were expected on site Sunday to be honored for earning their CTP credentials earlier this year, and most of them made it, too, in spite of flight-delaying weather. Tom Moore of NPTC presented the graduates one-by-one to the meeting attendees. There are about 800 total CTPs now, Moore observed, noting that the test this year was even more rigorous than before due to the switch from multiple-choice to a short-answer format. “It reflects more of what the real world looks like,” he said. “It is a very robust process.”

The CTP program, now 18 years old, was developed by NPTC for private fleet professionals seeking to enhance and polish the skills and expertise they bring to their organizations. According to NPTC president and CEO, Gary Petty, the graduates bring “new, additional talent and resources” to the industry and to NPTC.
