Pressure Systems International (PSI) has awarded Wabash National Corp. with its 2009 Athena Award, given to the company each year that does the most to promote the use of PSI’s ThermAlert technology.

The award was presented to Dick Giromini, president & CEO, and Steve Miller, vp-- supply chain management for Wabash.

ThermAlert is available on the Meritor Tire Inflation System by PSI. It warns vehicle operators of excessive heat buildup in the wheel end before it can result in wheel loss, wheel-end failures, and possibly dangerous and costly trailer fires.

“ThermAlert was developed to address the safety concern of possible wheel-off situations due to excessive heat buildup in the wheel end and we’re very appreciative that Wabash recognizes the benefits for their customers. Having a trailer manufacturer with Wabash’s reputation support this technology reinforces our belief in the advantages of this technology,” said Tim Musgrave, president & CEO of PSI.
