The 2008 International Summit on Agricultural and Food Truck Transportation, to be held December 2nd and 3rd at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington D.C., will focus on issues affecting the commercial transportation of agricultural commodities in the U.S. and internationally.

Topics to be discussed include the impact of recently-enacted agricultural and energy legislation; the trucking industry’s ability to meet the needs of agricultural and food shippers; the role of energy costs and environmental issues in the trucking industry and agriculture, and the importance of the commercial trucking industry and agriculture in 21st century international markets.

Keynote speakers include Clayton Yeutter, former Secretary of Agriculture; Tomas Dorr, former Under Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development; Paul Speranza, Jr., vice chairman and general counsel of Wegman's Food Markets and Immediate Past Chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Charles "Shorty" Whittington, chairman of the American Trucking Assns.; Dr. Wallace Tyner, professor of agriculture economics at Purdue University; Dr. David Kreutzer, senior policy analyst, Heritage Foundation, and Mike Townsley, president, Bob Evans Farms Food Products Division.
