Con-way Freight was honored for Outstanding Achievement in Highway Safety in the general commodities division at the recent Michigan Trucking Assn.’s (MTA) Annual Safety Awards Banquet.

Con-way, a subsidiary of Con-way Inc., also won the award in 2007. The winners were selected based on miles driven, types of driving, number of accidents and other safety indicators, the carrier said.

"Once again, we are pleased to be able to honor Con-way Freight for its outstanding achievement,” said Walter G. Heinritzi, MTA executive director. "Con-way clearly exhibits an ongoing commitment to safety, and we're glad to have the opportunity to recognize the company among its peers.”

In December, Con-way Freight was named the 2007 FleetOwner For-Hire Fleet of the Year.
