Charles “Chuck” Hurley, CEO of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), has been nominated by President Obama to be the next Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

CEO of MADD since 2005, Hurley is a former naval intelligence officer who has spent the last 30 years involved with highway safety issues in senior leadership positions with the National Safety Council and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. He worked extensively with law enforcement on air bag and seat belt, teen driving, and child passenger safety issues.

Hurley also worked with then-Senator Obama in 2003 to strengthen Illinois' seat belt, teen driving, child passenger safety, and anti-racial profiling laws.
