Con-way Truckload's George Cook, a three-time company driver of the year, has reached three-million miles of driving service.
Cook, who has driven 23 of his 31 years for Con-way, has been a driver of the month four years in a row as well as the driver of the year the past three. He is the 10th driver in the company to reach the three- million mile mark.
"You don't get to three million miles without a lot of other people helping you," Cook said. "I love my country, my family and my job."
Cook's typical route takes him from Dallas to El Paso. He accumulated the miles from 1986 through this year. The company honored him with a ceremony on April 4 at its Joplin, MO, headquarters.
"Reaching three-million miles of driving is an impressive accomplishment — it's the equivalent of traveling the circumference of the Earth 120 times," said Herb Schmidt, president of Con-way Truckload. "After three-million miles with us, George's dedication to safety and customer service speak for themselves. We are proud to have him as a Con-way Truckload driver."
Cook and his wife of 29 years, Tani, have six children and 10 grandchildren.
